It's always a bit sad when one puts together a long, thoughtful post and there is a comment, and one thinks, "Aha, the conversation is continuing." Then the comment turns out to be robotic praise, leading into some kind of selling...

Sorry the comment lost something when it got posted, so I removed it. Here is what I was trying to say:
I would love to have a conversation with you and Brian about these matters. I need to read Brian's book first, which I really want to do, though there's not any time for that right now. The American Slave Coast publishes tomorrow. The publication kick-off is tomorrow night at Brown University, whose history is tied tightly to the history of the U.S. slave trade.

We're on tour support for the book for the next two months.
My particular interest in this matter is that of the African and Afro-latin syncretic religions which so many writers treat as if it's merely material that's dead and gone, when it is anything but.
